Hi, DA. It’s me, the guy who barely even uploads around here anymore because most of my art isn’t even DA-friendly anymore.
But let’s be honest: with the site’s latest AI-related antics, the one and only reason why I’m even around anymore is because there are still a few of y’all who stubbornly refuse to be present in any of the other non-crappy sites I frequent. But even that isn’t going to be a sufficient reason for much longer. So, please…
(I’ve also seen artists move to posting exclusively to non-art-centric social media sites, and to them, I say: are you freaking serious?)

All right. I’ve got to admit, I’m not very active on DeviantArt. First of all, this site doesn’t really encourage interactions. I don’t even know if all the activity on my art is from strangers or from regular followers.
Do I even still have regular followers around here?
Come on, make yourself known!
The second reason why I’m less active on this site is… well, let’s be honest: most of my art nowadays is too spicy for DA. All my drawings that can be posted here, I still post here. But if you don’t see me post here for a while? It’s likely that I’ve actually drawn more art in the meantime that I couldn’t post here. Ah well.

A few things have changed since last year. I, who took pride in being able to follow several dozen artists on several different art sites, lost that ability altogether. I rarely ever check my inbox now, except for comments and the occasional journal.
On the other side, I’ve been artistically more productive this past year than in any year before that. Sure, it’s less than a dozen pictures including a bunch of uncolored sketches, but hey, better than none… (If you’re currently counting less than a half dozen pictures, you probably follow only my non-adult art
)There isn’t actually much to say beyond that. I’m not setting goals for the year to come, art-wise or in my personal life. I’ll keep working on both, but if there’s anything I’ve learned lately, it’s that fixed goals tend to stress me out more than they motivate me.
Oh well.

A few days ago I got blasted by an artist for daring to say that I was not a fan of one — one — part of his picture, while acknowledging that it was only a matter of taste. I also faved the picture and gave it four stars out of five on SoFurry.
That... didn't go over too well, and apparently the artist (and his boyfriend) took it as an attack on his skills, his ability, on his artistic style even! When I tried to defend my initial comment, I apparently earned a few more insults and a block, and an accusation that I would have acted the same way they did if someone had left a similar comment on one of my pictures. Then the whole conversation was promptly deleted.
So, let me get this straight: I will never, never react with hostility to a comment of yours stating a mere preference. You don't like how I draw paws? You don't like the way I draw muzzles? As long as you don't outright insult me or my abilities, and as long as your words remain free of open hostility, I won't mind at all. Who knows, I might even enjoy discussing matters with you.
But one thing I will never do, contrary to the aforementioned artist, is to go through your gallery and insult you and your artistic abilities just because you didn't agree 100% with my tastes and stylistic choices.
